Red November 2020
Each year in November, Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) holds Red Wednesday, an international initiative which sees religious, civic and cultural buildings flood lit in red to highlight those who suffer
and are persecuted for the faith. The initiative began in Australia in 2018; in 2019 we invited Cathedrals to light red, and a third of them did so, in a wonderful show of support for this most important cause. ACN Australia is thus inviting all cathedrals and parishes to light up in red to commemorate Red Wednesday, which will be held on 25 November 2020.
In addition to Red Wednesday, ACN Australia will be launching this year, again for those who wish to participate, a focus on the suffering Church across the whole month, called Red November. Red November will predominantly be taken up in schools, but parishes are most welcome to become involved. It will include specific resources on the needs of the suffering Church and a church-shaped ‘poor box’ which can be distributed to encourage spiritual and material offerings across the month of November.
Contact us on 1800 101 201 or email [email protected] to request your Red November box/es and help us keep the faith alive!
