Support Catholic Education in Burkina Faso
Support the Food and Education of 200 Displaced Children
The Church in the diocese of Nouna shares the same overwhelming crisis experienced in various regions of Burkina Faso due to violent Muslim extremists. Since 2018, around 1,300 schools have had to close due to armed attacks, depriving almost 170,000 children of an education. There are currently more than 30,000 internally displaced people in the diocese, and more than 80% are children.
Internally displaced families find refuge with compassionate host families who generously share their food and basic necessities. Despite their best efforts, these host families face tremendous challenges in meeting the needs of the displaced families, let alone cover the school fees for their children.
Echoing the Holy Father’s message on World Day of Migrants and Refugees, Bishop Joseph Sama is pleading for help to provide displaced students with schooling and meals.
"Every immigrant who knocks on our door is an opportunity to meet Jesus Christ, who identifies with the foreigner of every age, welcomed, or rejected." He says.
Can you give an offering to provide a Catholic education for 200 displaced children and support their nutritional needs?
