For months now our lives have been dominated by the coronavirus pandemic and now, in Advent, I cannot really write anything substantially different about it from what I wrote in Lent 2020.
There is one very big difference, however. Whereas nine months ago, I was very worried about whether our charity would still have the resources to continue its mission, I can now only thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thanks to your generosity and loyalty you have made it possible for us to strengthen the bridges of love and care between you and our suffering brothers and sisters. Through your support for the life and ministry of priests and religious in the countries where we are working you have provided the essentials they need to sustain their vital apostolate. In Lebanon, and the catastrophe-struck regions of Africa, Christians have seen for themselves that they can count on your prayers and material support. For this, we can only thank you.
Please continue your faithful support. This living proof of your love is the strongest bulwark against the “subtle persecution” of the Faith that is sadly gaining ground in our countries.
I remain united with you in confident prayer,
Thomas Heine-Geldern (Executive President, ACN International).
