So says the Compendium of the Social Teaching of the Church. There is scarcely a country in the world where this journeying together is more relevant than in Nicaragua. It is of vital importance for social peace that people should understand this teaching, since “The Church’s social teaching proposes principles for reflection; it provides criteria for judgment; it gives guidelines for action” in society (cf Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2423). This is why the bishops of Nicaragua want to promote the DOCAT, which explains the Church’s social teaching to young people, in all nine dioceses of their country. Priests, religious, catechists and other lay leaders will be able to approach the social situation through the eyes of the Gospel and be able to explain to the people what their rights and duties are. They are journeying towards justice and human dignity as they walk along the roads of Nicaragua. We have agreed to pay for 26,400 copies of this book.
