Formation of 15 future priests
from the Syriac Catholic Church

At the Syriac Catholic Seminary of Sharfé in Lebanon, a vital initiative is underway to support the formation of seminarians, ensuring the future of the Syriac Catholic Church. Located in the village of Sharfé, the 18th-century convent has long been a sanctuary for the faithful, representing the origin and heritage of Syriac Christianity. 

Amongst the challenges of war, economic crisis, and emigration, the seminary plays a unique role, the only Syriac Catholic seminary in the world, training 15 seminarians from Egypt, Syria, and Iraq—young men committed to carrying forward the traditions of a community whose presence in the Middle East is increasingly under threat.

This project aims to alleviate their financial burdens by providing the seminarians at Sharfé with the resources they need for their studies. The support will cover essential costs for formation, food and housing, annual retreats, psychological care, and engagement in weekly youth movements. This will strengthen their capacity to serve as leaders and shepherds of the Church in the future.
